Alex Jones abandons Donald Trump for Ron DeSantis

Following US politics latest news, Alex Jones, the creator of Infowars, has abandoned Donald Trump in favour of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Since 2019, Ronald Dion DeSantis, an American lawyer and politician, has been the 46th governor of Florida. DeSantis served Florida’s 6th congressional district in the US House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018 before becoming governor.

DeSantis declared his campaign for governor of Florida in January 2018, hoping to unseat Republican incumbent Rick Scott, who has been there for a limited time. In December 2017, President Trump declared that if DeSantis decided to run for governor, he would have his support.

Why Alex Jones abandons Donald Trump for Ron DeSantis

  • US politics latest news is that Despite his reputation as a fervent Trump supporter, Jones was among the far-right figures who opposed the previous administration’s drive to persuade Americans to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
  • The former president continues to hold a significant amount of sway in the Republican party and is currently at the centre of an FBI investigation into “secret nuclear papers” that occurred last week at Mar-a-Lago.
  •  US politics latest news Right-wing conspiracy theorist said that Mr Trump needs his backing to avoid the “nightmare scenario” of Joe Biden winning the presidency
  • The former president and Florida governor are the front-runners for the Republican presidential ticket in the 2024 elections, though neither has made an official announcement.
  • He forewarned the previous president in December by labelling him either “ignorant” or “evil” for urging people to receive the vaccination.
  • The FBI and Justice Department are also looking into him for his involvement in the Capitol riot from the previous year.
  • Jones, a prominent MAGA media personality who promoted the “great falsehood” that massive voting fraud caused Trump to lose the 2020 presidential election, was present at the Capitol uprising. Since then, the Justice Department has started looking into his involvement in the riots, and the Jan. 6 House committee has subpoenaed him after receiving messages that his attorneys unintentionally exposed him during his most recent Sandy Hook trial.
  • Jones has had a history of changing his mind about supporting Trump. He asked Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia and a member of the MAGA party, to run for president last month, asserting that she was “smarter” than both Trump and DeSantis. He has also publicly expressed his desire to “never have fucking met Trump” because he is “fucking sick of him,” branded the former president a “dumbass” for advising his followers to get vaccinations, and promised to “dish the dirt” on Trump for his support of the vaccine.
  • Therefore, I am backing DeSantis. DeSantis just went from outstanding to amazingly good,” remarked Mr Jones.
  •  He said that after seeing a video of the governor, he might be able to discern “genuine honesty” in Mr DeSantis’ eyes.
  •  We have a candidate that Trump cannot match. The Florida governor is someone Mr Trump “should be like,” according to Mr Jones, who also said that he is “far better than Trump.”
  • Jones’ comments follow those made just a few days prior by Laura Ingraham of Fox News, who also thought it could be time to stop supporting Trump.
  • A report from earlier this month stated that the Jan. 6 committee was preparing to subpoena Mr Jones’ messages and emails that were accidentally sent to a lawyer for the Sandy Hook victims.
  • He has been sentenced to pay the family of a victim $4.11 million in compensatory damages in addition to $45.2 million in punitive penalties.
  • This week, Ingraham said that it seemed as though Americans were “exhausted” by Trump’s persistent legal issues and other difficulties and that it may be “time to turn the page.”
